I have spent many years involved in organizational management and human resource development at foreign-owned IT companies, including IBM Japan. At the age of 66, a significant milestone in my life, I established Working Japan Co., Ltd., a foreign talent placement business, with the desire to use the experience I have cultivated to benefit the future of Japanese businesses and communities. Currently, Japan is facing a serious labor shortage not only in the IT sector, but also in many regional industries such as nursing care, food service, accommodation, manufacturing, and agriculture. I believe this issue is not just a problem for individual companies, but a matter concerning the sustainability of entire communities.
At Working Japan, in addition to introducing IT engineers and supporting offshore development, we support the recruitment and retention of foreign talent in the specified skills field, helping to utilize human resources in a way that suits the specific circumstances of each workplace and region. Hiring foreign talent is not simply a means of supplementing manpower. We believe that a perspective of "retention" and "coexistence" is essential, which includes not only the working environment but also an understanding of their lifestyle and culture, and their involvement with the local community. I myself have built a family with my Indonesian wife and lived in a different culture. Because of that experience, I value on-the-ground support that cannot be judged by systems and theories alone.
